Pagar Monastery was built in 1707 by Geshe Kuenga Gyeltshen. Legend has it that while he was performing a ritual, a black crow picked up his ritual cymbal and dropped it at the site of the present monastery. Taking it as a good omen, he built a monastery on that site. The main relic of the Lhakhang is a ritual dagger that is said to have flown from Tibet to the monastery. The structure is surrounded by five mountains that bear resemblance to the shape of a religious headgear usually worn by lamas.
